About NSCDA-WA
We support historic preservation and education to make Washington’s future as bright as its past.
The Washington State Society was founded in 1910 and currently has approximately 200 members who reside throughout the state. Our Society promotes our national and state heritage through historic preservation, patriotic services and educational projects. Members participate in our Society’s local and state committee activities according to their time and talent; support national museum houses and rooms through dues, contributions and fund raising efforts; support Society-approved scholarships programs; attend state and regional meetings; and volunteer ideas and assistance to carry out our purpose and objectives.

The NSCDA
The National Society of the Colonial Dames of America was founded in May 1892, by a group of Philadelphia women dedicated to colonial history, historic preservation and patriotism. The NSCDA is headquartered at Dumbarton House, a federal period museum house in Washington, D.C.

Students & Teachers
Since 1998, the NSCDA-WA has granted over $200,000 in scholarships to Washington state history teachers. We also support History Day through volunteer efforts and financial contribution and provide scholarships to students.

Preservation
The NSCDA is chartered to support the preservation of historic documents, objects and building related to the early history of our nation. Each year the Historical Activities Committee invites several organizations to submit applications for grants to further historic preservation in Washington State.
